Please Pray for Samuel

We ask that all of you join with us in praying for Samuel, one of our boys here at the orphanage. Nine-year-old Samuel lost his footing as he was getting down from his bunk bed and fell, injuring his knee. He seemed to be doing OK, but his pain worsened over time. This morning (Wednesday) Emmis took him to the hospital, and it appears they will not be returning home soon. It is not 100% clear yet what Samuel has--what we do know is that there is an infection in the joint in his knee that could easily spread to his bloodstream. He will probably have to remain in the hospital for 5-7 days to complete his treatment of antibiotics, and may have to undergo an operation. Please pray that God would heal Samuel. We are confident that God hears our prayers and that the prayers of His children often move Him to act.

Just this past Saturday our children here at Rivers of Mercy held an evangelistic outreach event for the children of the community. At this event, Samuel boldly shared his personal testimony with everyone present. He did so again on Sunday in front of the entire church congregation. It was quite touching to hear--he shared what his life was like before Christ, how he came to know Christ as his Savior, and how His life has changed. He shared that even though he was taken away from his mom and now faces the reality that he will never be able to go back to her, he knows that God has a plan for his life---”And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Rom. 8:28). And despite his current situation, Samuel continues to praise and thank God. He knows that God is in control and allows everything to happen for a reason. In addition to praying for his healing, please pray for the rest of us here at Rivers of Mercy. Emmis is staying with Samuel at the hospital and that makes this stressful situation even more difficult. Please, please pray for our beloved Samuel.
